Hey, it’s tom.
I almost went to art school. In high school, I was part of the National Art Honor Society, set on pursuing 2D design. There was a problem though - music. From when I first started talking and moving my feet, music was everything. So when it came time, I pivoted and instead of art school, I went to music school and dove headfirst into the creative passion that has fueled my life.
Creative expression has always been at the core of who I am. Whether through music, photography, writing, or design, I believe creativity is essential for a thriving and inspiring society. That’s what led me to marketing. Great marketing is creative expression with a purpose.
My path wasn’t linear, but every step gave me the skills, insights, and perspective to become the creative marketer I am today. I started my career in licensing and copyright at a major music publishing company, but I wanted something more hands-on, more creative. A summer-long solo road trip changed everything. I documented the journey through a blog and Instagram, and discovered a love for storytelling, photography, and community. That trip kickstarted my marketing career.
I landed a gig writing for a music magazine. Then came my first social media clients. From there, I expanded and honed my skills in content, graphic design, and brand. Eventually, I worked through corporate from Intern to Coordinator to Senior Manager.
Over the years, I’ve become fascinated with what drives people, what motivates them, and what shapes their decisions. To me, the most powerful brands are the ones that tap into this deep connection. When consumers encounter a brand, they’re not just seeing a logo or a product - they’re encountering the visual and communicative representation of that brand’s mission, vision, and values. It’s those emotional connections that resonate and create loyalty far beyond the transaction. That’s why I believe purpose-driven marketing isn’t just effective, it’s the key to authentic and lasting relationships.
